About
My tutoring is designed to make learning fun, with plenty of encouragement and a no shame rule. I am a lifelong student of English and literature, so my goal is to help students along their own learning journeys. Together we will find joy in overcoming difficulties and improving reading, writing, and speaking skills.
I love the moment when a student's face lights up with understanding of a difficult concept. Having worked with every age group from toddlers to college students, I know helping someone learn something new is fulfilling.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will sit down with a new student and ascertain their level of knowledge and which area(s) they struggle in. I will ask for school materials to see what feedback teachers have given and what topics the student is expected to know. I will also ask for the student's interests, to individualize the lessons and make them fun! Then together we will design a plan to strengthen weak spots and practice new skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA from Knox College, where I graduated with honors in 2021. In high school I was a tutor through the National Honor Society, tutoring English grammar, history, and Latin. From sophomore to senior year of college I was a tutor both in person and online through the Knox College Center for Teaching and Learning. From 2021 to 2022 I worked as a preschool teacher, designing and implementing a curriculum, while continuing to hone my tutoring skills through workshops. Since 2020 I have also worked as a professional copy editor, both freelancing and working for news media organizations.
