About

I'm passionate about helping my clients achieve their academic goals through engaging, creative methods that keep their attention and focus, and get them excited about learning. I don't want our session to be just another hour of schoolwork, but instead, a time when they enjoy themselves and have some fun while improving their skills, growing in their difficult subjects, and enriching their academics without even realizing it!

I'm a student at Fordham University, where I hold a 3.77 GPA with a double major in English and Humanitarian Studies, and a double minor in French and Arabic. I've recieved awards in English, theology, French, Spanish, and Arabic, since I was in high school. Currently, I'm working as a tutor and writing my second novel after receiving a grant from my school to write.

I have about two years of experience tutoring fellow college students in English, literature, and related subjects. In 2020, I also began tutoring ages 5-18 in English, writing, vocabulary, handwriting, and math. I've worked with students with dyslexia and dysgraphia, as well as young nonreaders (first and second grade). In addition to doing traditional "homework help" tutoring, I've also created full homeschool ELA curriculums for students ranging from age 6 to 17. These enrichment and homeschool curriculums enable me to tailor lessons to each child, and create completely customized curriculum.

I love working with a student and watching their progress! It can be truly amazing to see. I also love having a great session with a student, and being able to tell that they enjoyed it just as much as I did!

Laura is a fantastic tutor. She is extremely patient and has helped me get my grades up from Cs to As. She has tutored me in writing and literature and has helped proofread several essays for college level classes. She has also tutored me in Spanish and has been incredibly helpful with my pronunciation. I’d recommend Laura to anyone who needs a boost

Frequently asked questions

First, I like to have a conversation with a parent or guardian, and learn about what subjects or areas their child struggles with or needs more attention in. Then, I have a preliminary session with the child, to gague for myself what their strengths and weaknesses are. From there, I work with the family to determine a schedule and plan for tutoring. I work with a one-hour minimum. Finally, I develop a plan for the child that includes outside-the-box ways of learning - for example, to improve handwriting, instead of just copying letters over and over, we might do some fine motor activities. Or, for vocabulary and reading, we might play a word game.
