Using both my technical and creative skills, I'm able to find ways to approach problems that work for you specifically. I don't just show you how to do it, I explain why the steps are what they are, while keeping in mind that good grades are the ultimate goal. We always have test-taking strategies in mind during our sessions.
I have plenty of resources for finding additional practice on any troublesome topics. We're not limited to only the practice problems that you bring to me. And I don't charge for creating assignments or study guides on my own time.
I'm very flexible. Not just with pay rate and scheduling, but with who I've successfully taught. I have experience ranging from 2nd grade math to professional license certification exams. And I have a lot of experience teaching remotely.
As a degreed engineer, I work on technical projects. As a working actor, I practice the art of thinking like someone else. As a teacher/tutor, I get to engage both the technical and creative skillsets to share knowledge, and it's just so gratifying to help others succeed. I become emotionally invested in your success from the start.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before even taking a job, I'll confirm that I have the necessary expertise in the subject matter. I'll likely request existing lesson plans, homeworks, quizzes, etc. Upon meeting, I'll make sure that the student and I have a mutual understanding about 1) what it is exactly that we're trying to accomplish by working together and 2) open and honest communication is encouraged, because we're going to be thinking about problems from every angle until we find YOUR angle.
I like to teach a mindset for approaching a problem, not just the steps required to solve it. This builds vital test-taking skills, leading to more consistent results/grades. I'm trying to get the student to the point where they don't need me anymore!

B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in 2009 from LSU.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typical pricing is $30-50/hr depending on subject matter & if you commit to multiple sessions. This rate is all-inclusive, no taxes or fees. And no charge for my preparation of lesson plans and homework problems.
I'm totally flexible though. All is negotiable. And I'm certainly willing to meet first over videochat, before any sessions start.
How did you get started teaching?
During my engineering program at LSU, there were many lectures with complex concepts. I was part of a small group that would regularly re-teach the material to our fellow classmates. I knew then that I had a love for teaching. I've been tutoring when I can as a side job ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught small group sessions in my college days, but most sessions are one-on-one, both in person and over videochat.
All recent experience has been one-on-one tutoring of Math, Physics, & Chemistry classes, from 2nd grade to college & adult education.

A former student of mine passed their college entrance exam after receiving Math tutoring from me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There are many tutors out there that have fantastic knowledge to pass to you, so just find someone who you're comfortable communicating with. Being able to communicate effectively will make the sessions more efficient and will likely yield better results/grades. Maybe ask a tutor if they'll meet you over videochat first, before hiring.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
For the subject matter in question: ask yourself what concepts do I understand well? Which do I need the most help with?
About your current teacher: what methods do they have that work for me? What doesn't work? This may give a tutor a head start in discovering your learning style.
But first, ask yourself if you are putting forth enough time and energy to the subject that you're struggling with. Sometimes a shift in focus is all you need. And I'm happy to help with that as well :)
