Emily's Tutoring
About
I am a Master of Biomedical Science graduate of Rutgers University where I completed coursework in Neuroscience, Physiology, Biology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. During my graduate degree, I was a member of a Neuroscience Lab and conducted research and data analysis with Fiji and ImageJ. I studied the effects of a novel therapeutic, Leukemia Inhibitory Factor, on pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury using age-associated mouse models. I completed the Post Baccalaureate Pre-medical program at Columbia University. I completed the TESOL Certificate Program at Teacher's College of Columbia University. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Policy Studies, International Relations and Spanish at Syracuse University and graduated early. I formally studied the Spanish language for 11 years. I took AP Spanish in high school and studied at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile for 6 months during a college semester abroad.
I love to learn and teach. I have been tutoring for 13 years. I tutor elementary, middle school, high school, college and graduate level students in science and Spanish. Perhaps you are looking to improve your conversational Spanish language skills or your confidence in science. Maybe you are simply looking for time management skills about how to become a more effective learner. It is my mission to help you achieve your goals and increase your confidence.
During our first session, I will provide you with a personalized Welcome Letter. I will ask you a series of brief standardized questions about your learning style and your goals. I will share my knowledge of powerful study tools such as the Anki algorithm and the benefits of Spaced Learning. I promise to honor your time and regularly check in with you to ensure you are satisfied with the service you are receiving.
Congratulations on taking the step toward improvement and a more successful academic future. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and I hope to have the opportunity to help you succeed!
