I cannot wait to help children and teens be successful in their education and gain confidence that will help them succeed exponentially in their futures. I am a student full-time student at Vanderbilt University and understand just how important education is. I am majoring in Medicine, Health, and Society and minoring in both Spanish and Human and Organizational Development. My tutoring is catered to exactly the content and style of teaching that is best for each individual so that they can reach their full potential.

Something I love about teaching is seeing the students grow both in understanding of material and in their self-esteem. I am actually studying to be a Mental Health Therapist for the exact reason of enjoying helping others grow.

Frequently asked questions

The first time I meet with a new student, I think it's important to break the ice a bit and get to know each other. It's easiest to learn and ask questions with someone you are comfortable with. Then we'll dig into the topic and see what areas need the most help and how much of the basics we need to cover. From there, I can individualize what sessions look like for each student, including putting together powerpoints/practice problems to use during sessions.

I started tutoring as a volunteer when I was a senior in high school. I learned quite a few mistakes as a beginner tutor that I have learned from (like not tutoring someone in AP geometry when you haven't even looked at the class for years haha). As a current full-time student, I'm right there in the education system with my tutoring students. Many of my housemates are secondary education major and very passionate about teaching. From them, I've learned quite a few tips for teaching and the importance of personalized strategies for each indivudual. Additionally, I have taken AP Psychology (High School) and Child Development (college course), which give me scientific strategies for tutoring. In regards to the subjects I tutor, I have taken many advanced science, math, writing, and Spanish classes and would be willing to share those exact courses if that was of interest.

I currently charge $25 per hour, but prices are negotiable.

I technically tutored for the first time as a fourth grader who was asked to help first grade students one-on-one who were struggling with their schoolwork. Later I started tutoring as a volunteer my senior year of high school when I was a member of National Honors Society. In addition to this, I have a younger sister who I have informally helped with schoolwork.

I have worked with mainly high school students in chemistry, geometry, and spanish. I also have much experience working with children outside of a tutoring and school setting.

Look for a teacher that values you as an individual. Every student has strengths and weaknesses, which should be catered to in their tutoring. A teacher should strive to help you not only with your skills but with your confidence as well, as both are vital for success.

Think through some goals you would like to achieve- both long term and short term- especially through tutoring sessions. Communicate those goals to your teacher and it's ok to adapt and adjust your goals as your proceed.
