English Tutoring From HS English Teacher!
About
As a third-year high school English teacher and an English Literature degree holder, I am well-versed in reading and analyzing literature and tutoring for essay writing. I have reviewed multiple essays for friends and students I have tutored, and I currently teach AP Literature and AICE Language. I love reading and writing.
I love reading and writing, but I especially love the learning process. I enjoy finding new ways to work with students and building engagement as well as enhancing skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always want to know about the students' backgrounds in education and literacy. Figuring out and understanding their own goals for themselves is vital to learning that will last, so that is one of my primary goals. I'd love to have writing samples and any information on reading comprehension.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified in Secondary English Education and I have been working in MNPS for almost 3 years. Prior to that, I have tutored for ACT, writing, and reading comprehension, and I have worked at summer camps teaching classes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
As a certified teacher, I generally charge $50/hr with a student.
I will often spend time working on essays and plans outside of the time with the students for which I do not charge. I want to be sure students get the most out of their time with me.
How did you get started teaching?
I first wanted to be a teacher in high school, so when I got to college, I was enrolling in education and English courses and participating in shadowing and jobs that built my experience with students. I student taught in and 8th grade classroom and a 12th grade classroom. In my years teaching I have taught a range of levels from Tier III Reading Intervention to AP Literature.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked at summer camps with students as young as 4, but I have also worked with students whose first language is not English and students with special needs.
