About

I am a 4.0 UCLA grad, a 98th percentile scorer on the MCAT, and a full-time educator. I have run my own tutoring business for 3 years now and have loved every minute of it.

I like to think of myself as an educational concierge rather than just a tutor. My services aren't limited to just explaining content. I also help devise study plans and integrate outside resources. Unlike many other tutors, I make myself available in between lessons not only for the occasional question that may arise but also for any emotional concerns that crop up. STEM subjects aren't easy; I'm here if you just need to vent!

I love the long-standing relationships I can form with my students. I generally work with clients for months or even years, which allows me time to identify their learning style and customize my lessons accordingly. I also enjoy getting to "talk shop" with STEM students who care enough to try. If you have made the effort to reach out to a tutor, then your interest/concern is enough to excite me. Your success becomes mine.

At the last minute, Lauren swooped in and helped my daughter with a bio project. I dont know what we wouldve done without her. My kid got an A and the semester was saved.

Lauren had a really fun personality but also really knew her stuff. I appreciated that shed help on a weekend or night if I needed her.

Lauren was extremely patient and kind to my daughter. She got to know what she likes and focused her tutoring on what she liked. My daughter loves and looks forward to meeting with Lauren.

    Frequently asked questions

I teach the majority of my students via Zoom; if you happen to be a New Orleans resident, I'm happy to do in-person instruction. I generally ask to view a student's class material in advance. This allows me to thoroughly prepare a lesson and thus use our time on-the-clock more efficiently. I prepare homework assignments upon request and am happy to answer an occasional question via text or email.

Studying as a pre-med at UCLA as well as acting as a TA for my classes prepared me well for tutoring.  Also, experience working for institutions like Kumon and the Florida Public School System further equipped me for this job.

During college, my father offhandedly asked, "Do you think you could help our neighbor's son with chemistry?"  I thought, "Why not?  I like those neighbors."  It ended up being incredibly rewarding, and I know that showed in my work because the family continued to refer me again and again.  Soon, I found my schedule packed tight, and I've never been happier at a job.

I have worked with ages from 8 to college-aged (this can be quite a large range, and I love working with my adult college attendees).  I have experience with specials needs, particularly ADHD and autism.

My Nana and I decided to have "high-tea," just to have an excuse to get dressed up while stuck inside due to COVID.

In the sciences, make sure to find a true educator, not just a scientist.  Not that a practicing scientist can't make a fabulous tutor, but just know it isn't a guarantee. Teaching is a skill in itself that must be practiced and honed.

Students should think through the level of involvement they would like the teacher to take in their learning.  Is your tutor there just to spot-check trouble spots?  Or do you need something more comprehensive, like a tutor who helps you through homework and assigns you practice problems between sessions?
