Our chance to serve as a catalyst for academic achievement is here and the time to positively influence the way our youth learn is now. STEMulate Memphis offers one-on-one tutoring services in addition to offering professional educational services to schools and after-school programs in search of STEM resources during the school year. Changing the educational dynamics in a child’s life will impact their family and community in ways few can fathom. We invite you to partner with us as we strive to create challenging ways to educate, encourage and empower students and teachers in STEM subject areas throughout their academic journey. Through exposure and encouragement, STEM Memphis will serve as an avenue for equalizing and empowering our city’s education system for generations to come.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As native Memphians and graduates of local high schools, we are aware of the challenges that are ahead and we are well equipped to tackle them, along with our vast team of STEM experts. Through innovative lessons plans focused on teaching STEM principles using hands-on techniques, students will immerse themselves in stimulating activities that focus on Science, Technology Engineering, Entreprenuership, Math, Reading and Writing.
How did you get started teaching?
Education is the great equalizer and a means for equipping any child with the necessary tools to realize the American dream. Children throughout the Mid-South receive vastly unequal educational experiences and opportunities due to substantial differences in funding between schools. One way to solve this problem and help bridge the educational gap in our great city is to provide an opportunity for kids to learn while having fun.
What types of students have you worked with?
STEM Memphis is an education, mentoring and community service based organization dedicated to providing quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) opportunities throughout the Memphis area. Developed by a former Space Systems Engineer and an Shelby County Schools (SCS) administrator who specializes in the development of children with special needs, STEM Memphis offers a tangible approach to learning for all primary and secondary students, regardless of their socioeconomic status or ethnicity.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In addition to ensuring student success in the classroom and in life, STEM Memphis will offer a variety of support to teachers throughout the school year by giving them an opportunity to collaborate with teachers from different schools and share curriculums along with creative learning methods that were successful in their classrooms. Industry professionals that partner with STEM Memphis will serve as mentors to both students and teachers in the program, helping them maximize their leaning environment by exposing them to “real life” applications of the subject matter. Our organization will also provide Industry representatives in search of education, volunteer, and outreach opportunities the chance to donate resources for scholarships, and internship positions at their place of employment.
