I have a degree in Elementary Education. I taught in Christian School, Public Schools, and homeschool. I have been teaching for over 19 years. I enjoy helping kids who are struggling in school reach for the stars. I enjoy making reading come alive, helping students to reach their goals, do the impossible, and empower them that dispite all odds they can do all things through Christ!
I enjoy watching kids faces light up when we are working together, when they began to understand areas that they were struggling with. I enjoy helping young people reach beyond the stars.

2. develop a plan and goals
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started teaching?
After graduating from Oakwood University I began teaching at a Christian School preschool and Kindgergarten. I also did some substitute teaching in the special ed classroom and with other grade levels. Then I went on to teach at some public schools as the disciplinary teacher, and then on to first and fourth grade for some time. Then I went on to homeschooling my Children.
What types of students have you worked with?
I started a volunteer after school tutoring program at my church to provide free tutoring for kids at our church and in the community who where struggling in Reading, Language, Math, and Science, and Social Studies. We helped the kids to pass their acheivement standardized test and bring up their grades. I've also worked with autistic and special needs students for a short amount of time and also some that were in my classrooms. I taught pre-K through 9th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Ive really been enjoying conducting zoom classes online for kids and youth on a weekly bases. Talking to them, encouraging them, and watching them grow.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that you can connect with, someone you feel comfortable with, who listens to you, and who you feel comfortable openning up to. You want to be able to be really with that teacher so that they can help you in every aspect of your learning. Look for a teacher who can inspire and motivate you effectively.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should really try to look deep with in themselves and try to figure out what areas they are really struggling with, why, and how the teacher can help them. If they are not for sure they can ask the teacher to help them figure out those areas so that they can be successful. The students also needs to think how hard are they willing to work to achieve their educational goals and improve because if they are not willing then its going to be really hard for someone to work with them. Thats why it is very important for them to try to figure out what they feel is holding them back (distractions, educational limitations, difficulties, or home environment, etc) from reaching their educational goals.
