What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we begin by discussing what learning styles have worked for the student in the past. Then, we will discuss the upcoming deadlines and exams that we will be working toward. This will allow us to set up a study schedule for the topics that will need to be covered. We will then spend the first half of the session learning the material and the second half of the session enforcing the material through practice questions and quiz banks. At the end of the session, we will see what areas are deficient and we will focus on these areas at the beginning of the next session. It's also important that I learn the student's career goals, hobbies, and other aspirations so that I will be able to motivate them in a specific way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Tutor for students aged 10+ years old, including students at the doctorate and graduate level.
