STEM Tutoring
About
My education includes a PhD in chemical engineering and a graduate mathematics minor.
I taught Chemical Engineering for 25 years at The University of Tennessee. While there I also taught freshman physics, applied mathematics, and computer programming. While there I received multiple teaching and advising awards, including the chancellor's award for inovation in teaching.
I really miss working with students and helping them to master a subject. I don't teach to the "test" but to mastery of the subject.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
FIrest I determine the learning style of the student so I can match the tutoring to the student. Next I need to determine where the student stands in the topic to be tutored in. Rather than teaching just how to solve particular problems, it is important that the student master the underlying principles. Then he/she can apply them to existing problems and new ones when the are encountered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in chemical engineering with a graduate mathematics minor. In addition, I have created hundreds of computer programs in many different programming languages. I have taught 25 years at The University of Tennessee in the areas of chemical engineering, statistics, computer programming, applied mathematics, and freshman physics.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I change $35/hour in your home for grades 1-12 and $45/hour for undergraduate courses. The price for graduate courses depends on the subject.
