Study With Shannon
About
Hi! I’m Shannon. I have a Masters degree in secondary curriculum instruction and am certified to teach both English Language Arts and World/US History. After teaching for 9 years, I left the classroom to become a stay at home mom. I first taught middle school English Language Arts and, after three years, transitioned to teaching high school English Language Arts. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of varying abilities including students with learning difficulties who require extra support, typical students who read at grade level, and honors level students who routinely outperform their peers. I am passionate about helping students connect to literature in ways that foster deeper interest in reading and greater comprehension of texts. I specialize in simplifying Shakespeare’s plays, Gothic literature, and historical texts in a way that makes them more accessible to learners. I also love teaching students to write. I have more experience teaching informative and argumentative essays and utilize the notecard method of creating a tactile, easily editable, and low stress approach to both outlining and drafting essays.
