Hello! my name is Emma Smith. I am a kind, caring, and honest person, who loves a challenge. I am a mother of a turtle. And interested in learning new things as well as teaching them. Having the opportunity to teach people things I know about is so exciting to me! I used to be and still am a huge grammar nerd. I read and write poetry. One of my favorite poems is by Joyce Alcantara. "And even though it's hard and I may struggle through it all. You may see me struggle, but you will NEVER see me fall." I am a diligent, determined, kind-hearted, and patient tutor and also as a person. I love teaching and talking about new things and helping people achieve their goals. I am extremely easy to talk to and I want to make people feel comfortable and at ease. I will help you practice the English you already might know and help you learn new words, the meaning of them and so much more as well as conversational English, everyday sentences and just talk in general! I have tutored for quite a while. I have been a nanny for four years and the tutoring just comes with the job. I absolutely love every moment of it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step is making them feel comfortable in the environment, and giving them a safe space to be themselves. I want my students that I tutor to know I am not intimidating, speaking to a stranger is scary as it is, there is no need to make it any harder for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring on and off for about two years. I am a nanny so the kids that I take care of, I help them with their schoolwork, reading, writing, etc. More conversational, everyday English and grammar.

I will charge 10 to 12, to 15 dollars an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
It really was an all of the sudden thing. When I started nannying, one of the children was really struggling with his school work and I just started helping him, and it came naturally to me and I realized this is something I could do for a living.
