About

My name is Madelaine! I've been tutoring for the past four years in Math, English, and SAT/ACT prep. I've had many students and have found a way to make each one of them excell in their subjects. For me, tutoring is about getting to know what the students need. As someone with a learning disability, I know that sometimes you just need things to be explained differently and have someone meet you at your level. Thats why I started tutoring and why I continue to do it. I believe that students are completely capable and can succeed at any subject with the right amount of help and dedication.

I love it when things click for students! That's the best part of this job. When a student finally has the light bulb go off and they understand, I know I have done my job well.

    Frequently asked questions

My first step when tutoring is to get to know my student and understand what level they are working at. From there, we can develop a game plan that molds to their pace and learning style. It's important to me that we find the right mixture of learning their current subject while also implementing the building blocks necessary to help them succeed.

I have four years of experience as a tutor and have taken multiple education based courses in math and English.

My lessons are $30/hour, with each consecutive hour discounted by $10. I want to be as reasonable as possible and make tutoring less of a financial struggle for each family. If my prices do not work for you, contact me and see what we can work out!

I have worked with students from a lot of different skill sets and backgrounds. I have tutored everyone from a third-grade student trying to get a handle on fractions, to a tenth-grade student struggling with geometric proofs, to a senior trying to raise their SAT score a little bit more to qualify for a scholarship.

Don't be afraid to get a tutor. Needing help in a subject doesn't make you dumb, it just means you need help learning it in a new way. Look for someone who isn't just qualified in your subject, look for a tutor who you will be able to connect with.

Think about what you honestly need hep understanding. I get a lot of students during consultations who say they don't know what they're struggling with, or it's all confusing. If that's you, that's totally okay! It just means we need to spend some time figuring it out. If you already know, it can let us dive in faster to the material, helping you boost your grade sooner.
