Fundamentalsx3 is a tutoring service that allows students to use fun as a learning tool for learning. Focusing on the whole child, Fundamentalsx3 offers a safe learning environment designed for students to feel safe making mistakes and taking risk during learning. This allows them to share their misconceptions with boldness, which in turn allows me, as their tutor, to address them with accuracy and productivity. As a certified teacher I have acquired knowledge and developed strategies to meet each student at their levels in an effort to move them forward in their academic progress.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is to build a rapport with them so that they are comfortable in the learning environment. This could include small talk about their grade level, school they attend, if they are involved in any sports, etc. Something to break the ice! Then, I like to learn about how they learn: do they like to take their time and think things all the way through, do they prefer a fast pace learning environment, etc. Finally, we discuss the problems they are having in Reading, English, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified teacher. I have a Master's in Elementary Education; however, because many reading strategies are based on proper foundation, I find that older students benefit as well. I have been teaching English Language Arts for the past 3 years and have documented data that shows students in my class move forward in their academic progress. In addition, many of the Common Core Standards build on to one another; therefore, learning the fundamentals of these standards can help the older students to progress in their academic achievements.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system range from $25-$30 per hour. This pricing system is based on a basic reading lesson in which students learn to master one skill: Main Idea or the like, Making Inferences, etc. Also, this includes teaching students test-taking strategies.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a Substitute teacher. I was ask to take a long-term subbing position in which I did for 1.5 years. I realized that I had developed a tireless commitment to teaching children and seeing them grow in their education. I decided to move my career forward. I enrolled in school to be a teacher, now here I am!
What types of students have you worked with?
Professionally, I have worked with elementary students; however, I have worked with all age groups in my tutoring profession.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am fond of is being selected to teach a lesson for my district's School on TV initiative. This was an effort to ensure that students still received instruction during the COV-19 Pandemic. It was a great honor to be a part of that initiative knowing that students across our city (and possibly state) were still being taught, despite the social distancing orders.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who is passionate about his or her work. Have a conversation with the potential teacher about your goals and what you are trying to achieve. It may not be a bad idea to ask how that teacher plans to get you there. In other words, be intentional about who you choose.
