I am a college educated, semi-retired executive. My degree is in creative writing and most recently i have been a magazine publisher and a VP of Development in the publishing field. I am a lifelong reader of fiction and nonfiction. I am available to tutor basics in most elementary subjects with a specialty in English. Happy to work with classroom teachers and parents to insure curriculum integrity.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Familiarize myself with what the student wants to learn.
Establish a curriculum and schedule.
Establish commitment level of the student. Why do they need a tutor.
Engage any influencers (parents, teachers at school, etc.) and incorporate their needs.
Discuss student learning style. Are there issues there than need to be addressed.
Discuss my teaching style and address any issues or disconnects.
Establish a regular class meeting time and schedule.
Design the program/curriculum and agree on what is to be learned each week.
Establish markers for how we will we know if progress is being made.
Discuss things that might keep progress from being made. Establish a protocol together for what will happen if progress is not being made.
