One of the things that I enjoy the most about helping students is the satisfaction I get from watching a student succeed and reach his or her potential. I am not here to ensure you become a Biology professor down the road, I just want.to help you pass your test or gain a new found respect for the subject!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introduce myself and have the student introduce self by telling me what he or she feels is struggling with or reviewing the material they need to understand. I would also like to review any previous homework, notes, or material he or she has and help filling the gaps from there. I prefer in-person tutoring.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a senior student at Charleston Southern University studying Registered Nursing. While completing my prerequisites for the nursing program, I also took general biology courses.
I completed my associates of science degree back in 2009. Since then, I have taken college courses ranging from business to math trying to find my niche. Here I am in a nursing program and am loving it.
I have worked with a range of school ages from 4 year olds to 18 year olds.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Minimum charge of $15 for 45 minutes
$20 for 60 minutes
$5 for every 15 minutes after the first hour.
How did you get started teaching?
Learning is a personal passion of mine. I feel confident in my ability to finally start teaching biology and to help those who need a little extra help. I just want to share something I love and give someone something no one can ever take away from a person, knowledge.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am fond of is helping some fellow nursing students understand the cardiovascular system. It is a complex system in the human body that entails the heart, veins, arteries, and to an extent, the lungs. I helped fellow students grasp and understand the electrical pulse circuit of the heart that is responsible.for conducting heart beats. I also helped them understand how to better read electrocardiogram (ekg's). I am in no way a professional at this yet, but my classmates managed to pass the exam and have a better comprehension of this system.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone with patience, a friendly demeanor, and someone who is willing to think outside the box to help you understand this subject better.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I personally feel that a student should think about exactly what it is he.or she does not understand. If a student can pinpoint where the confusion is stemming from, comprehension is just around the corner. However, there are cases in which a student cannot do this. When that happens a student should think about "what is it that I DO understand?" That helps tremendously also.
