TM English Tutoring
About
I have been working with high schoolers and undergraduates ever since my highschool years. I absolutely love the way their minds work to solve problems, and I believe that tutoring should be a highly collaborative process. In college, I was selected out of 35 students to become an on-campus English tutor for college freshman because of my academic performance and passion for the subject. I have been classicly trained in tutoring practices and have taken courses on teaching principles, so I bring the best of both worlds.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Asking them what their concerns are about the assignment to let them know I truly care about what they think and feel. I have them read out or explain in their own words the problem at hand, and then I begin explaining or gently guiding them in the right direction if their explanation is incorrect. After this, I gradually begin exploring the issue with them further, all the while asking for their input and feedback to confirm comprehension. To wrap up the tutoring session, I provide a few takeaways and ask them to prepare at least one question for when they see me next as homework.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained as a tutor in college and I received my Bachelor's in English at Winthrop University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Eighteen dollars an hour as a flat fee.
What types of students have you worked with?
College undergraduates, Highschool students, Middle school students, and Adult students
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
"Have I read through the materials thoroughly?" Often times students neglect to do this which harms their comprehension of the subject.
"What basic reading/writing rules do I already know?" Students often times undervalue what they've already learned. By going back to basics, they can actually remove the clutter of things they think they don't know, and get down to what they actually are struggling to understand.
