About

I've owned a business for 10 years that requires me to communicate with people that don't speak English as their 1st language. I've successfully taught hundreds of children and adults ESL. I homeschool my 11 & 14 year old children. I have an associates degree in allied health sciences, a two year diploma in pharmacology, MANY cont. education certificates including: blood born pathogens, CPR, EKG, & phlebotomy basic and advanced.

I love working with children & the most fulfilling thing for me is the look on my students face when they have that "AHA" moment. I understand that flexibility is imperative and will work with your schedule and preferences.

    Frequently asked questions

We get to know each other via casual conversation. Once we are comfortable and familiarized with each other (no matter how long that takes) we will discuss future objectives for why the student feels they need help.

We also discuss any reasons the pupil feels they might need extra coaching and start to find the cause (anxiety, bullying, late start, coping skills, bad chemistry with previous teachers and/or tutors, academic load too large, etc. ) so we can address the root of the issues to more effectively help the student.

I like to help people and I have a contract that stipulates IF I DON'T HELP YOU, YOU DON'T PAY! I won't accept a job I'm not sure I can accomplish.  I'm confident in my ability to help the people that need help in my areas of expertise. 😉

I own a business called Monarch Media that provide services to third-party Sellers from all over the world. I've also been tutoring classes of my peers since my first year in highschool. I'm strangely drawn to knowing everything I can about the English language as well as biology, anatomy and physiology.

No, actually I have a contract that states if I'm unable to help you improve whatever it is that you need improvement on you pay me absolutely nothing! Otherwise, I treat each case differently depending on what the student needs.

I homeschool my children. My oldest is 18 years old, my youngest is eight. Aside from that, I gave up my electives in high school and college to work with not only handicapped/underprivileged children, but children that needed help in particular areas that I excelled in. I was in the Accent program for gifted and talented children at my school district from 3rd grade until I graduated.  I went to six years of college after high School. In high school and college I continued to tutor my peers in areas of the English language, anatomy, physiology, biology, etc...

As I mentioned before, I homeschool my children (as well as other people's children) I have worked with many different children of many different ages. I tutor people in English as a second language because of my job. I work with predominantly Chinese clients with a few from places like Germany, Mexico, Iceland, Switzerland, Africa, and most recently Brazil. For my Chinese students I teach them English as a second language exclusively. Whereas, the others, I teach what must be known as far as the the type of work the student needs help with. I've also tutored peers of mine while in college in anatomy physiology and biology every Thursday night to make sure that everyone was prepared for the quizzes given on Friday morning.

Teaching one of my client's children to speak fluent English in less than two years 💕

Always speak with the tutor first. If they don't have a phone number listed for you to call and speak to them & want to discuss things solely via email then, I would avoid that person. Also, I would make sure that I had all the details as far as payment worked out with the tutor so that there was no confusion later on. Another major thing that needs to be done, but seldom is, is getting to know the tutor before you actually begin. If you don't have any chemistry with that person or you don't feel the person tutoring you is trustworthy or reliable, then you're not going to learn as much as you would with someone that you feel you can trust because you're going to be thinking of other things such as will they be there today, are they teaching me the right thing, will I be prepared for next year or the presentation I have to give or whatever the case may be. I advise you to always make sure that you have built rapport with your tutor before beginning!

*what am I looking to get out of this?

*How long do I think it will take for me to learn the things I need to know?

*What do I think would be most beneficial to me - face-to-face, online, video calls etc?

*Am I hands on learner, do I learn via reading, do I learn best by teaching others, do I learn best by just listening. People learn in many different ways and once you figure out the way that YOU learn, learning becomes so much easier!

*Again, most importantly, know what it is but you expect to get out all of your relationship with your tutor. this way you can most effectively communicate what it is that you want and the tutor can then more efficiently give you what you need.
