About
I'm a certified Spanish teacher and tutor with a Master's degree in Spanish Teaching, and have been teaching Spanish for 12 years to students aged 12-22. I've taught every level of Spanish from beginner to Advanced Placement Literature and college-level courses.
My students tell me that I make learning Spanish fun and easy, and that I explain concepts clearly and simply. I love tutoring because I get to work with students one-on-one and focus on what they need to be a sucessful student.
I love helping students who are struggling have that "Aha!" moment where the concept clicks.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In the first session we'll go over your strengths and challenges with learning Spanish, I'll assess your comprehension and output levels, and we'll jump right in! Your time is precious, so my students come prepared with a topic or grammatical structure they want my help with and we use every minute of our time together working to strengthen their Spanish skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish, a Master's in Spanish Education, and am a certified Spanish teacher as well as tutor. I am also a certified Spanish medical translator.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I tutor in 30 minute online sessions through Zoom. Each session is $30.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always loved helping people understand concepts, and began teaching soon after graduating from college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with every type of student imaginable! My students have ranged in age from 5-50, and all had their own unique strengths and needs as Spanish students. I've learned to adapt my teaching to the individual needs of a particular student.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my Spanish students left this note on my door:
"Thank you so much for being the best Spanish teacher I ever had. When I first came to your class I thought I wouldn't do good, but you were so nice and patient and now I love your class."
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
For Spanish, make sure that you hire someone that has experience teaching the language, not just speaking it. There are many intricacies to the language that you simply don't know if you haven't studied and taught it as well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-What do I want to get out of this? (help with a specific class, be more fluent in conversation, be able to write better, etc.)
-How do I learn best? (through repetition, writing, listening, visuals, etc.)
-How will I know that this tutor is effective for me? (improve my grade, be able to have a conversation, etc.)
