Lowcountry Language Connections
About
I like to help people achieve their learning goals. If they are struggling, then I will help them to overcome their obstacles. If they are already doing well in a subject, then I will help them to excel even further. I have over 19 years of full-time teaching experience at both high school and college levels. I have a BA in Spanish, an MAT in Spanish, an MAT in Arabic, and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. I have taught ESL classes at all levels, including test preparation classes for TOEFL and IELTS. I have also worked as an evaluator for AP Spanish oral proficiency exams. I have lived in other countries for over 3 years and have taught students from many different places.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I communicate with a student to find out what material they are studying and what goals they hope to achieve. I also inquire about any specific topics or skills with which they need help. Then I provide a brief explanation of the topic or skill, or any difficulties that the student has with it. Then I guide the student through activities related to this skill or topic to give her or him a chance to master it. I continue to guide students through practice activities, adjusting the level of difficulty as appropriate and providing constructive feedback where necessary.
