Tutoring With Daye
About
I am in college now to become a teacher, so tutoring is something that comes natural to me. This will be my first time tutoring professionally, but I'm the first person my siblings or friends come to for help with homework. I'm going into my sophomore year of college with a 3.78 GPA (on the 4.0 scale) and a love for music which is my major. I'm planning to tutor Spanish and math, although I get good grades in all my classes. I took three years of Spanish in highschool and just finished my final Spanish class required with an A. I've also been a year ahead in math since 8th grade and am confident in my abilities to tutor in it as well. I did service learning which involved helping children with homework and interacting with kids of all ages. It taught me patience, versatility, and how to make things more fun. I only wish I could've done it sooner!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I see what the student isn't understanding first. I then try to explain it in a way that makes more sense based on how the student is thinking about the question. If that doesn't work I'll try to explain it in another way or use a comparison that they can better relate to.
I'm currently a music education major, but my second choice was math education. I've been a year ahead in math since 8th grade and have never made anything less than a B. I took three years of Spanish in highshool and my final class needed in college and also never made anything less than a B in it.

How did you get started teaching?
I was advised to do service learning my senior year of highschool (the only year it was available for me) since it's similar to the environment I'd be in as a teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with kids from elementary through middle school.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm always fond of the moment something clicks in my student's head! They're so proud when they finally get it and it's a great feeling as a tutor.
