About
The "Aha moment" is what I live for! I enjoy seeing the lightbulb turn on. When a concept has been confusing or frustrating and I can provide the clarity they've been seeking...that's a day well spent in my opinion!
Fun is on the agenda, too! I want my students to associate learning with enjoyment. Your first task will most likely be a diagnostic game to see where your strengths reside. The game will also show me where I can focus our tutoring sessions.
As much as time will allow, I also like to help teach healthy time management strategies. Students have all kinds of options now within the realm of education. It is important to build the skills to increase focus and productivity.
So join me! Let's learn and have some fun along the way!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I ask your parent/guardian to brag on you a little bit! They will be asked to fill out a Google Form with a little information about ways you're awesome and why you're seeking tutoring.
Second, you have homework...ALREADY! For math, I'll ask you to complete a placement test on Prodigy. We will not use Prodigy during our sessions but I will use it to evaluate your strengths. It will also educate me on where I should start our work together. Reading is a similar process but on a game called, "Dreamscape". I'm trying to make it painless for you guys, ok? :)
Third, I will likely call or email your guardian/parent to discuss our starting place and appointment date/time.
Fourth, we meet! I prefer to meet virtually, however, can accomodate more in-person sessions as the school year closes and summer begins.
Fifth, we set goals and crush them!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a total of seven years of public school teaching experience. I've worked in a variety of places such as Del Valle, TX schools, Charleston SC district, a Charter school and now I work at the Cyber Academy of South Carolina out of Greenville.
My students' background have varied widely as well; everyone from second-language-learner, Gifted and Talented, kids with 504 or IEP plans, and a lot more unique circumstances.
