About

I am a teacher who loves helping students reach their academic potential. I am a firm believer that personalized education can help identify students’ strengths and weaknesses. I have taught social sciences, aided in test prep (SAT and AP), and successfully helped students write college essays and complete applications to then attend their dream schools. I am licensed to teach in Virginia and with reciprocity in SC. I have a social sciences specialty but hold a Masters Degree in secondary education from The College of William & Mary. I currently teach at a private school in Charleston.

I have only taught high high schoolers but have tutoring experiences with grades 2-12.

Frequently asked questions

The first step to working with a new student is to gauge their learning style and personality. I have all students, of any age, complete a survey that will allow me to gather baseline information that will aid in my personalization of materials and lessons. I then know where to start and can set a goal for the student to reach.

I have a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science, a Masters in Education, a certificate for social sciences, CPR/AED/First Aid training, and a teachers license.

I fell in love with education when studying abroad in Spain my junior year at William & Mary. I was able to then graduate with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science to then continue and complete a Masters in Secondary Education.

I have taught for four years, students of various high school ages and abilities. I have also tutored students ranging from ages 8-18. I have experience working with students on the Autism spectrum, with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, and emotional behavior disorders.

Students should always ask questions! The type of question is a skill we can work on improving together. Being successful is not about knowing the right answer, but rather knowing the right question to ask in the appropriate situation.
