Physics Fun
About
Physics is the study of matter and energy in all of its forms as well as how these forms interact. Mathematics is the physicist's " toolbox ", but physics is primarily a philosophical and artistic subject.
The increasingly fast pace of higher learning has created a shift away from conceptual learning practices towards rote memorization of mathematical maneuvers. Thus, introductory physics courses, at times are needlessly overwhelming to students. The unfortunate consequence is the inevitable confrontations with test anxiety and frustration that cause some students to underperform.
My lectures, first and foremost, are conceptual in nature. During each session, I'll make a brief assessment of where a student's current subject comprehension is. If possible, I will work one or more problem sets, depending upon how long our meeting will last. Most importantly, I will directly address questions that the student may have regarding their lecture material.
With practice come small successes. Small, repeated successes give rise to confidence and academic success. Every human being has room for improvement!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I am an active listener, and I first determine where a student currently understands by asking strategic conceptual questions during the beginning of their studies. Mastery of concepts using pictures, analogies, etc. is a crucial predecessor to equation derivation and problem-solving.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In 2004, I obtained a bachelor's degree in physics and a minor in chemistry from the College of Charleston, SC. During my stint as a College of Charleston, SC student, I worked as an introductory physics and chemistry tutor in the Center of Student Learning. In 2018, I took and passed the Praxis 2 Physics Exam that qualifies one to teach Secondary Physics at the high school level. In 2020, I created a S.T.E.M.-oriented blog as an adjunct to the lectures I will provide to students.
