About
I use differentiated and personalized methods and strategies to meet the needs of all learners. I love to plan fun, interactive lessons for students. I tend to use the gradual release of responsibility in my lessons. I model as needed, then we work together as I scaffold your learning, and then you will work independently to show your mastery. I love to do hands on science lessons and leveled reading groups. I include a lot of word work, phonics and phonological awarenesss, as well as guided reading and shared writing. Technology integrations and literary or informational read alouds in every lesson! have been teaching in Columbia classrooms for over 16 years. I began as a substitute in Richland One while in college at Columbia College. When I graduated with honors, I was hired at Caughman Road Elementary where I taught third grade for the next 7 years. I then moved to Meadowfield Elementary School and taught both second and third grades for the next 5 years. Next, I moved to Clear Dot Charter School, where I currently work. I taught second and third for three years and this year I am the reading interventionist and literacy coach. I am Read to Succeed certified having taken and passed all the literacy courses for that endorsement. I am halfway through requirements to become a certified reading coach. In 2015 I attained my Master’s degree in divergent learning from Columbia College.
