    Frequently asked questions

My process for working with a new student is to first offer a consultation session with the parents to determine areas of concerns and goals for their child. After the consultation, I will assess the students to determine their areas of weakness and then develop a 6-week plan for the student to work on. Every 6 weeks the parents will be given a progress report to showcase progress the student has been making and we will reassess their goals, and the amount of tutoring session days.
I am a certified teacher. I have been teaching for 11 years. I am certified to teach grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grades. I have taught grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th. I have taught a variety of subjects and I am Orton Gillingham trained to work with struggling readers and Dyslexic Students. I also write curriculums for various subject areas since I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

My sister is a teacher and I enjoyed hearing her teaching stories and her passion for educating the youth. Once I entered the profession, I enjoyed teaching and creating innovative lessons. I feel that I was able to express my creativity and have fun working with students. It has always been a breath of fresh air and it is my goal to open my own tutoring center one day.
I have worked with students who have been identified as Gifted and Talented (Advanced) Learners, students who have learning disabilities, ADHD students, Autistic students, students who are struggling readers, Dyslexic students, etc. I have experience working with various types of learners and I am eager to work with many more.
One of my 1st grade tutoring students has made excellent progress in just one month of tutoring. His teacher was mentioning him being retained due to his lack of reading progress. In just one month of intense reading intervention and attending tutoring twice per week, he met his goal and his teacher is seeing excellent progress. Though their is still work to do, we are all proud of his progress.
The advice I would give a student looking to hire a teacher is to find someone who is patient and has enthusiasm for teaching various types of learners. I would also recommend someone who has excellent communication skills and someone who can take and provide feedback to help you grow and succeed as a learner.
