The Word Tutoring
About
As a retired teacher, with a Bachelor's degree in English, Masters degree in Lirarianship, and many years teaching in 4 year old lab school, School Librarian , Special Education Substitute and English teacher, I believe that I am well qualified as a tutor in all grades of public school. As a teacher certified in two areas, I held a Master's plus 30.
One of my beliefs in education is that the individual student should be taught in the way he or she can best learn. Therefore, better ensuring success in mastering the subject, and boosting confidence in learning.
Finally, as a Children's Librarian in public libraries, I learned the value of using methods from reading programs such as visual aids, puppets, creative dramatics, music and arts and crafts in order to reinforce the lesson.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, I would introduce myself, ask the student's name, and ask their favorite character in literature, their favorite topic about which to write, or other such question to "break the ice" and give he or she the opportunity to feel at ease.
I would then talk about my preferences in books, poetry, writing and so on. If the student were younger, I would employ puppets, utilize an eraserboard, and books with colorful pictures, for examples.
