Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During our first session, I will get to know the student and see the areas in which they excel as well as struggle. Then, together, we will figure out a lesson plan and learning style that will work for them based on what they are doing in school and what they need help with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a tutor since 2015 and have just graduated from the University of South Carolina.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is $45 an hour for online session and $55 an hour for in person, but I am willing to talk to the client and adjust prices for their needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I started when I was only 15 years old when my friend's mom asked if I could help her 4th grade son with reading comprehension. I have been in love with helping students ever since then.
What types of students have you worked with?
I mostly work with middle school and high school students who need help with English, science, social studies, and history but I also tutor elementary school students in all subjects and college students in select subjects.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find one that fits! Talk to them first about their teaching style and get a feel for their personality. It's so important to feel comfortable with your tutor and that you guys are on the same page about what you want to get out of tutoring.
