I’m a former teacher with a Master’s in Education and a Master’s in English Literature, and I love working with students one-on-one. There are few things more fulfilling than seeing a student’s eyes light up when they grasp a concept. I welcome student and parent feedback and will provide individualized instruction based on each student’s personal goals.

I love helping kids feel like they are accomplishing goals and overcoming obstacles they didn't think they previously could. I know that patience and motivation are very important. Growing up, it was hard for me to accept the fact that sometimes I didn't fully understand something I had just learned. I always wanted to be the best I could be and I had several tutors who helped me reach that point. From helping family and friends, I realized how rewarding the small things are. Hi! My name is Susan and I have a passion for English literature. I love helping people grow their education and have a background in teaching and customer service.

We only hire experienced tutors, certified teachers or degreed professionals. All of our tutors go through a series of interviews, reference checks and background checks for their credentials and criminal records. For many students, difficult projects and misunderstandings sap the fulfillment from completing those projects. The endgoal, when this happens, no longer has anything to do with the process of learning; instead, they just aim to finish the work, usually as quickly as possible. It's like doing a puzzle. English and writing have been a constant in my life as long as I can remember. My father, an English teacher for over forty years, instilled a passion the craft that has only grown with time. I have an BFA in English, with a minor in Creative Writing, from Virginia Commonwealth University and have earned a TESOL certificate from INTESOL Worldwide. I have also taught creative writing workshops for both adults and teenagers since 2016.
