Hopton Tutoring
About
I have my bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Rhode Island, where I also have a year of experience tutoring my fellow students and graduated cum laude a year in advance. I have worked as a behavioral therapist with autistic children with children and as a early childhood educator for nearly 2 years, where I applied my education to aid in the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children ages 6 weeks through 6 years old.
In addition to tutoring in psychology, I also tutor in public speaking. I have 6 years of competitive speaking experience, winning multiple tournaments across the country through NCFCA and Stoa. I am Stoa's 2016 National Impromptu Speaking Champion, and have coached several students over the years with their speeches.
I would love to help you shape your knowledge about psychology or public speaking! I am willing to travel and can also do online tutoring.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take some time to figure out where the student is with the subject (what they know already, what they're struggling with, etc.), and I take the time to find out HOW my student learns best. I take this into account when helping them understand the material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in psychology, 2 years of experience as a behavioral therapist and in early childhood education, and 6 years of experience as a public speaker, including the title of the 2016 Stoa National Impromptu Speaking Champion.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25 for the first hour, $15 for every hour after.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher with experience, not just education. Experience is the best teacher.
