Bilingual Tutor For Writing, ACT/SAT, Spanish, ESL, And Biology

I hold a BA from Middlebury College and an MS in Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and specialize in helping my students improve their writing, test-taking, and language skills. Many years spent living, studying, and working as a teacher in Spain have left me with native-like Spanish language skills, and I am happy to accommodate lessons in either English or Spanish, regardless of the subject of study. I pride myself on being an engaging teacher and meeting my students at the level they’re at, whether it be while practicing for standardized testing (SAT/ACT) or working on writing or language skills.

I employ a personalized approach for each writing student, using active-learning techniques to improve grammatical and technical skills while also helping them to gain more confidence using their academic voices and critical thinking skills. In addition to my work as a teacher and tutor for students of all ages (three years), I have two years of experience working as a proofreader and editor, during which I have helped hundreds of clients submit or publish essays, theses, dissertations, and scientific studies. I also enjoy helping my students with college and scholarship essays, and have previously received a Fulbright Award and numerous other scholarships in my own academic career.

When it comes to the SAT and ACT, I know from first-hand experience that test-taking strategies, focus, and confidence are key components of reaching one’s potential. When working with my standardized testing students, I aim to not only improve their working knowledge and problem-solving skills, but also teach strategies that help them to use their time effectively and understand their own strengths and weaknesses to improve study habits leading up to exam day.
