Enthusiastic Biology Tutor

I have three goals when working with my students, these enable me to help the students learn beyond the classroom. The first is to identify problems each student may have in their studies. There are several reasons students seek help, and knowing which applies to each student is key for me to format my lessons and pick strategies to get the best results. Mismatch between teaching style and learning style, difficult concepts that need additional support, poor study habits, good study habits but poor dedication/discipline, lack of accountability, diagnosed/undiagnosed learning disabilities, and combating a sense of being overwhelmed by material are only a few. Lots of students, including myself, can be overwhelmed with the task of tackling a concept of problem set on their own. Whatever the reason may be, I will work to create an environment and lesson plan that will benefit my students.

My second goal is to improve my students' confidence in the subject(s) that we are working on. I do this through a method called "I do, we do, you do". First, I explain the material in ways that resonate with each student, and then perform an example on my own. Second, I work with the student, guiding them through another problem. Finally, I ask them to complete the work independently. This method allows me to teach at a pace that matches the student's learning style and often help them gain mastery of the material. I am extremely flexible when it comes to my teachcing pace and never want my students to feel rushed or pressured to understand the material.

My third goal is to leave my students with tools that will help them to better learn and study independently. This goal ensures my students will walk away from each lesson with the confidence and the skills to tackle independent problems and futurs courses, thus it is the most important goal. Ultimately, I want all my students to gain skills that will help them learn throughout their future studies. Helping students engage and conquer in school or in life is one of best feelings, and the reason I enjoy tutoring so much. I wish to see each of my students happy and at their most successful!
