Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting acquainted with student's interests...likes and dislikes. I often use an informal intake sheet, while creating a file for his/her needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In the beginning, I received a Teaching Certificate, B.A. degree in English, and an M.S. degree in Business Administration. My teaching experience, in and outside the classroom, spans 20+ years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, $15 per online meeting range is average; because client needs are variable, some adjustments may be made, depending on the amount of prep time needed for each student.
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching is a life-long passion for me. I thoroughly enjoy the teacher/student
interaction and see the success of each student, whether in individual or group settings.
What types of students have you worked with?
My experience has allowed me the opportunity to teach Elementary, Intermediate, High School, and College students. I have assisted ESL students, as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The excitement of opening a tutors.com message and communicating with a potential teacher/student opportunity.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please pay attention to the introduction given by the potential tutor. Does this message make you feel comfortable and express the sincerity of the teacher?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Prepare your answers beforehand and be as thorough as possible in expressing your tutoring needs. I believe the questions asked by tutors.com are helpful when answered completely.
