ELA Excellence
About
I have been a high school English teacher in Providence, Rhode Island for the past eight years and substitute taught for two years prior. I have also tutored students over the years with a focus on essay writing, test prep, and analyzing literature.
Every career requires some level of reading and writing. My goal is to prepare young people for their future and support them right now. The support they'll receive in ELA will simultaneously increase both grades and build confidence in the subject area.
I also have my Master's degree in Educational Technology. If you prefer to meet remotely, I have several tools in my toolbox to make the experience meaningful.
I love seeing students grow as learners and "lightbulbs" going off. I get even more excited when they are able to use what they learned independently and with confidence.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we will discuss your goals for tutoring with me. Then, we will create a schedule and routine that works best for us.
We will work together to make a plan to reach your goals and, if necessary, I will ask you to complete a short assessment - writing piece, SAT sample test, reading analysis questions - to get a baseline of your current skills.
From there, I will either create lessons or support your personal school assignments, providing the tools for you to be successful beyond your homework.
