Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before starting a session with a student, we want to get to know them with our free consultation meeting. During this meeting, we will get to know the student and figure out the best way to teach them. We would like students to send us a picture or let us know what they want us to review with them ahead of time so we can prepare the lesson and worksheets for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a high school student who is about to take college-level math classes next year. I know everything from basic math to PreCalculus, but I feel better teaching elementary math, algebra, and geometry. My partner is going to high school next year. He is a very strong math student who can teach basic/elementary math and prealgebra.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1 session- $25
2 sessions- $45
3 sessions- $65
4 sessions- $80
10 sessions- $230
We also offer a money-back guarantee. If you do not see any development in your child's math skills even after completing the homework and recommended work that is assigned after every session, you will get your money back.
How did you get started teaching?
I am currently a high school student, who has always had a fondness for math, so when a neighbor asked me to help their child to be able to excel in math, I was so happy to help. We worked together on building their multiplication skills and after the next 5 sessions, she was able to recite all of her multiplication tables from 1-10. I was so happy, that I continued to teach and help other students with math. My partner has always had a fondness to help kids in school because he likes to see students getting ahead in their studies. He recently was helping a student in prealgebra who was not doing to hot in the class, so through many sessions and worksheets, he was able to get the student's math grade up to a A.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with students at all different levels of education, but mainly elementary (younger) students!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We remember working hard with a student who was failing algebra 1, and they were able to get his marking period grade up from a 55% to an 80%.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You should have a meeting with the tutor before you begin sessions, just to let them know what your goals are for these sessions, and what you want to get out of it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should never be afraid to ask any question, because no question is a "dumb" question, and by asking a question you are kindling your curiosity fire, meaning you will learn more in the process.
