About

Hello! My name is Emma Ventresca, and I am a student at Yale University. Through the National Honor Society Peer Tutor Program and teaching Taekwondo classes as a fourth-degree black belt, I have taught students of all ages in multiple disciplines. Additionally, I received acceptances from universities such as Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Cornell, and Duke, in addition to the Stamps Scholarship at Notre Dame and the Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia. I am currently double majoring in Economics and Theater and Performance Studies. These achievements have granted me first-hand experience with standardized testing, the college application process, and admissions. Having been named a National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction for my academics and service in high school, I am also familiar with engaging with students in meaningful ways while building confidence in the classroom. I am passionate about helping students define and reach their idea of success as well as granting them the tools they will need to excel on their standardized assessments such as the SAT and AP exams.

I loved going over the commonly missed problems and the step-by-step solving process for each. Ive reachd my personal goal of missing less and less questions on the math portion, and Im slowly working toward improving my reading and writing section as well! This class really helped me with pacing myself and looking at problems in a new perspective, which helped me improve my scores overall, as I was able to recall how we solved similar problems during class. Overall, this class was very helpful, and I also learned lots of new prep tools to use!

I liked how each type of question was broken down and explained clearly because it was able to create a pattern in my head so I could consistently recognize them on tests. I also liked the lighthearted and relaxed atmosphere of the class during discussions and how everyone was able to work together to figure out certain problems.

I have had many students raise their scores on the PSAT, SAT, and AP exams. Please message me for more information on student successes.

I started teaching in a non-academic sense as a fourth-degree black belt instructor in Taekwondo during my first year of high school. Since then, I have instructed classes with students from age three through adulthood. In an academic sense, I have taught since my junior year of high school as a peer tutor for the National Honor Society program. I was also a student coach of my mock trial team, granting me further experience in a formal classroom setting.

I have worked with students in a high school setting one-on-one as a peer tutor. This summer, I was an instructor for the Yale Young Global Scholars program. I created and taught my own seminar courses for academically excellent high school juniors and seniors. I currently tutor high school students online and in-person for standardized tests.

It brought so much joy to my heart to see the Class of 2028 at Yale begin to take shape on this past early decision day! I remember how exciting it was for me to receive college acceptances, so it was lovely to see Yale release a special article about the next class of Bulldogs!

I would advise my students to always stay focused on doing their best work and not be too concerned about having a "perfect" outcome at first. I would ask them to take their work seriously but also remember to enjoy the effort they put into their assignments. After all, they are getting closer to their own goals every time they study, and that is something to celebrate!

Students should think about their learning style in three main ways: How they studied in the past, how they study in the present, and how they would like to study to better achieve their goals. It is very helpful for them to think through what learning skills they would like to improve upon and implement before speaking with a teacher. It is also important for students to outline their goals for tutoring so the teacher knows what students personally value in each session.
