About
I am a PA certified Math teacher who taught at a Pittsburgh high school for 15 years. I now teach for a PA cyber school so I have had a lot of practice teaching remotely. I have experience teaching AP Calculus AB and BC, Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, Trigonometry, SAT Math Preparation, and Geometry. I have tutored students ranging from 6th grade to college students. I have been tutoring since 2003 at several places and as a private tutor. I am happy to help with any Math topics and please contact me with any questions. I really love my teaching job and especially enjoy helping my students focus on concepts, not rote memorization and procedures. The best part of my job is watching the "light bulb go on" when a student tackles a difficult concept.
At the moment, I am tuturing only during the summer,
I absolutely love helping students understand and love Math as much as I do! It’s very satisfying to work hard at a difficult task and be successful in the end.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I meet with the student and discuss their needs and goals. Then we start working on the material together, doing practice problems, and clearing up any misconceptions as we go. It's very important to identify any confusion in foundational concepts before we move on and master new concepts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have B.S. in Mathematics, an M.S.Ed in Secondary Education (Mathematics), and a PA State Level II Teaching Certification (Math 7-12).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40- $50 an hour depending on the subject matter.
How did you get started teaching?
My love of Mathematics growing up led me to major in it in college and also obtain a teaching certificate. I student taught at a middle school and I have now taught high school for 12 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with mostly high school and college students through tutoring. For a few years I worked at a tutoring center (Huntington Learning Center) where I also worked with very young elementary students. I have also spent a lot of time working with students who attend cyber schools.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I received an email from a 2015 graduate telling me that thanks to my Calculus class, she is passing college Calculus with flying colors. She was so grateful and it's moments like this that make me truly love teaching Math.
