About

I bring personalized lesson plans to students based on their learning strengths. I am a Pennsylvania Certified secondary science teacher with a MA in Science Education from Duquesne University as a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellow. I am qualified to teach Biology, including all of its subsets (I.e. life science, anatomy, biochemistry, etc.).

I enjoy helping students accomplish their goals by providing advanced content to challenge students. It is important to meet students where they are at, to learn about their strengths and weakness. I enjoy embracing students' strengths in the classroom. It helps to build their confidence in the learning process and in life. Teaching is fulfilling. It has allowed me to see students succeed and the incredible impact education has in the world.

My involvement in a mentorship program (Strong Women Strong Girls) during my college career opened my eyes to the world of education. I felt fulfilled to help others, and provide a service that aids students achieve their goals while building confidence in their abilities. I combined what I had learned from the mentorship program and utilized my undergraduate major in Biology to pursue a career in teaching.

I have worked with a diverse student community in a high-need school district. I have experience working with, and accommodating for, students with IEPs and 504 plans, as well as ESL students.

Before talking to teachers about their needs, students should think about the following:

What aspects of the material/content am I confident in?

Can I highlight specific areas I am struggling with? And if so, what are they?

How do I learn best? (Visual, auditory, reading/writing, kinesthetic, etc.)
