About
I have more than 15 years of experience teaching Spanish at all levels.
I started to teach as a volunteer while studying a degree in English literature in Manchester. After I moved on to a Masters in language teaching (PGCE) because I understood that teaching was my true vocation. After another MA in Translation and Cultural Studies, I began work as a Spanish tutor at Salford University (Manchester).
Having taught students from many different countries, I have developed my ability to identify among students both common and individually unique challenges that Spanish presents as a second language. I can coach students to improve in different areas, be it grammar, pronunciation or vocabulary. Given my experience teaching in England, I have particular insight into how English-speaking students approach and experience learning Spanish.
My lessons are based on immersive and encouraged conversation from the very beginning. After explaining grammar concepts and introducing new vocabulary, the student will work from home with links to grammar exercises, reading and listening practice that can be self-checked. In this way, contents are reinforced and the students obtain the required tools that enable them to speak in class.
I always take responsibility for guiding my students by giving them resources that suit their learning style and performing regular evaluation. I offer flexible hours and make myself available to solve doubts or difficulties that may arise.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During a first session, we will talk about the student's past experience learning Spanish as well as his or her objectives and the kind of lesson that they need. This is not only in terms of lesson time but also to choose a book, when requiered, and the work that I will be sending to the student on a regular basis.
