About
For more than six years I have gained professional experience working with children of various grade levels to support their developmental growth in both the academic setting and non-academic setting. I have worked as an in-class Spanish tutor and Spanish student teacher at multiple schools in the Philadelphia School District, as well as a CIT and lead Camp Counselor at two summer camps.
I graduated from Temple University with a BS in Education. My teaching philosophy includes connecting with students on a personal level first to establish a relationship of trust, and to provide students with an educative experience that inspires them to become lifelong learners. My passion for teaching children and for the Spanish language is a core part of who I am. I enjoy working with youth and learning their personalities, in addition to inspiring them and helping them to achieve their goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with a brief introduction interview with the parent looking for a tutor for their child, via phone call or zoom. During the meeting we discuss the specific learning needs of the child and how they have been progressing in the language learning process up to that point. Then I will email the parent a form to fill out regarding tutoring availability, pricing and backgroud information on the child's prior knowledge of the language.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My new student tutoring form details the specific pricing system for each tutoring session. The prices depend on the length of tutoring sessions and range from $15 - $25.
How did you get started teaching?
I discovered my passion for teaching when I joined a higher education intiative, Gear Up, in my second year of college. The program goal was to assign mentors to students for tutoring support and to aid them in pursuing post-secondary education oppotunities that best suited them. I was a mentor for 2 years before I had my first teaching experience as a Sutdent-Teacher in my senior year of college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from the ages of 8 to 19 years of age. The students come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. These learners had varying degrees of content knowledge and were at different ability levels in utilizing the target language. This included students who were heritage speakers, ESL students, and indivduals at the beginner level.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is important to look for someone who has experience and with a form of certification/qualification. However, learners have the highest chances of success when they have a tutor/teacher that is also supportive and that can truly connect with them on a personal level.
