About

I have studied and analyzed dozens of real standardized tests to identify exactly which skills, techniques, and concepts students need to answer every question type correctly. I have a Master's degree in education and nearly twenty years of experience preparing students for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and GRE.

I love helping students understand why they're missing questions even though they may understand the underlying concept. The explanation may be as mundane as a subtle fundamental misconception or as profound as falling victim to the psychology of the assessment. Whatever the reason, helping students improve is immensely satisfying.

Frequently asked questions

I will ask the student questions about her goals and current scores. I'll also get a sense for what kind of student she is to determine whether the primary issues are content mastery, conscientiousness, or technique issues. We'll begin by focusing on the most urgent needs and follow up with additional assessments and homework.

I have nearly twenty years of experience in test preparation. I was the highest rated tutor in the state of NJ for one of the largest test prep companies in the country. I have trained hundreds of other teachers on how to teach the SAT. I have a Master's Degree in Education and Pedagogy from The George Washington University.

The base rate for tutorials is $140/hour, but there are discounts available for students who sign up for tutoring packages (detail on my website). I also offer payment plans.

There are several important questions to ask prospective tutors: 1. How much experience do you have teaching the test? 2. Have you taken the test yourself recently? 3. What scores did you get? Do you use real practice tests or those written by Kaplan or another test prep company? 4. Is your strategy focused more on test-taking strategies or content mastery?
