Jillian The History Buff
About
I graduated in 2012 with an art history degree in Russian Iconography from The Ohio State University. After finishing school I never stopped reading and educating myself on niche areas of history and philosophy and I sincerely love talking about these subjects, probably to the annoyance of my co-workers and party guests. My type of teaching uses a lot of humor to make subjects more relatable and hopefully a lot less intimidating to digest. My most recent experience teaching has been instructing yoga classes which has helped me be a better listener to my students. Beyond Art History I also enjoy studying Ethics, Environmentalism, Social Justice, French, and Linguistics!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
What I like to do is ask the student what their goal is, and then to create an accessible and practical lesson plan to get there. I know it sounds corny but I am a super visual learner so I'll usually make a bullet list or compartmentalized notes as part of our "map" on the road to mastering material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Working with Boys & Girls Club, teaching summer art camps, volunteering at various after-school programs, and a sincere love for learning make me a great candidate.
