Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will ask the student/parent for the student's availability, then match it up to my own schedule to find an apporopriate time that works for both parties. I always inquire about what topics the student specifically needs work in and then will either guide them through their own material or curate my own personalized work that we can go through together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from University of Delaware in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Exersice Science. I am currently in my graduate school at Temple University purusing a doctorate in Physical Therapy.
I have worked as a tutor for over 7 years for both Kumon Math and Reading Center and for the Office of Academic Enrichment at my undergraduate university.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I base my tutoring rate on the length of lessons, amount of lessons, and distance traveled. My rate typically falls between $25-$40/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I always knew I wanted to help people, so in high school when looking for a job, I learned about tutoring as a way to teach people subjects that they are struggling in and I excel in. I fell in love instantly and have been doing it ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from 1st grade through middle-aged people returning to school. I have worked with student who really struggle handling the basics of a topic and students who are nearly perfect with handling the most advanced parts of a topic. I have worked with students who have fallen grade levels behind in certain subjects and I have worked with students who are years a head of their grade level.
