About

I have a B.Ed teaching degree from NWU in South Africa. I majored in English and Business Studies. I am fluent in English and Afrikaans. After my studies I worked at a school for students with learning disabilities; so I have experience with students with ADD, ADHD and students on the Autism/Asperger spectrum.

I believe that everyone learns differently and that lessons should be personalized in a way. Each student has different strengths and interest that should be included in the lessons. Topics or examples related to their interests/hobbies would make learning easier and more interesting for them.

I love working one on one with students, because it gives me the opportunity to get to know the student better. This way I can personalize our lessons to the student's likes and interests.

Frequently asked questions

We would have to establish what the student's current knowledge is and what their goals and problem areas are. This way we can establish what the best plan of action is- what to focus on and how to reach their goals. I would also like to find out what the student is interested in, so that I can make the material interesting and relevant to them.

I have a B.Ed teaching degree from NWU in South Africa, where I majored in English and Business Studies. I have knowledge of English literature (short stories, plays, novels), poetry, reading, writing (essays & speeches), English as a second language and preparing for tests.

In SA I taught at a school for students with learning disabilities, so I have experience with children who have ADD, ADHD and are on the Autism/Asperger spectrum. I have worked with ages 11 and up and am also trained to teach English as a second language to adults who have a basic knowledge of the language.

Lessons are priced per hour.

I've loved literature since high school and this was one of the big reasons why I decided to study teaching in English. During my 4 years of studying I did 6 weeks of practical each year- so I gained experience in teaching while studying. After my studies I became a full time teacher.
