Hello. My name is Melissa Burns. I graduated from college in 1997 with honors. I have always excelled in reading and writing. I have experience in proofreading for a court reporting agency and tutoring children at a nearby elementary and junior high school. I'm patient and know how to connect individually with each student.
I love reading and writing, and I'm currently in the process of writing a book. I thoroughly enjoy helping other people with their reading and writing skills, as it makes me feel good to see an improvement their school work.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Start off slow. Tell he/she a little bit about myself and vice versa. I would like to see some of the student's work and ask what area in specific they're having difficulty with. From there I would go over some of the basics and offer some guidance. I would then assign some basic assignments and we would move on from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two associates degrees. I used to work as a proof reader for a court reporting agency, I volunteered at a local school district tutoring children with reading and writing difficulties.
