What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I do a detailed QA to help me identify goals for tutoring, so that I can come up with a plan to address those goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English Literature, as well as fourteen years of experience teaching at the college level. I also have experience working with children.

How did you get started teaching?
I first worked as a tutor in a University Writing Center when I was an undergraduate English major, and loved it so much that I applied to MA programs in English and started teaching college-level Freshman Writing classes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with quite a full range of students, including elementary school students working on reading, middle school students working on writing, college students, and returning adult learners.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find one whose approach fits your learning needs and who is going to help you feel empowered to continue teaching yourself!
