Little background information about me! I am currently enrolled in Athabasca University to pursue my career in Professional Communications. I have two years of tutoring experience! I am proficient in Mandarin Chinese and used to run a Chinese Conversation Cafe to help students to practice speaking Mandarin. I also helped many exchange and international students with their ESL courses. I am patient, friendly and very understanding! I was a ESL student before, so I totally understand the struggle of learning another language, and also have insight tips on learning English in more fun and creative ways!! I learned Chinese in Beijing for five years. I can read, speak Mandarin very well. I ran a Chinese Conversation Cafe to help Chinese language enthusiasts to practice and learn! I can help you to practice your Mandarin Chinese with me and also can help you with pronunciations.

Yes, I charge $15-$18 an hour depending on the age and level of each students
How did you get started teaching?
I always had passion to teach. I first started as a side hustle to pay for my school, but after doing it for a while I start to love it so much!
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked with students of all age. Most of my students in ESL classes are 10-20 years old. For Chinese Mandarin, my students were 8-17 years old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most recent one that comes to mind is how people are coping Covid19 in Italy. I saw many videos of people singing and staying possitive during this terrible time. It eased my mind knowing this will make us come out of it stronger and better.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are a ESL student, I would advice you to hire a teacher who was in your shoes before.
I was a ESL student and I fully understand how hard is it to learn another language. learning a language also means you have to understand the culture. Understanding this will help you to approach and appreciate the language more. As a former ESL student, I have all the tips to help you learn English in fastest and smartest way.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There is no specific question they should think through before asking or talking to teachers about their needs. Unless its inappropriate questions,anything that is not relevant to the course.
My advise is, when it comes to learning a subject, student should never hesitate to ask questions. Ask more questions, be curious and learn!
