Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know how they learn, and what difficulties they are facing. Then adjusting the way information is delivered to suit their learning style
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in (Marine) Biology & Psychology and a PhD in Neuroscience. I was a teaching assistant (neuroscience/neuropsychology) for five years during graduate school and taught med school students (Erasmus) for three years during my post-doctoral work.
I am constantly explaining the scientific basis of energy, healing, and yoga to non-scientists; and then also relating this back to neuroscience.
I have created an online course (Movement and Cognition) for the same.

How did you get started teaching?
I think I've always been a teacher at heart. I used to take the neighborhood kids on "nature walks" through the small bit of forest behind my house, I have been teaching sports since I was a teenager - tennis, swimming - , and I am sure I helped some friends study in high schoool and college. I never actually taught 'book-smarts' until Graduate school. And after my first TA position I asked for feedback from my students; many of whom told me they could never understand the professor and would have failed the course if not for me - aaaaand I was hooked!
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and levels. Little experience with learning or focus impaired individuals.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Energy balance workshop at Jataka flow festival because it was right before covid and now meeting students two years later they are still remembering almost everything I taught them! In only one session!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a match. If you are not understanding the tutor/teacher and the teacher is simply repeating themselves in the same exact way with the same exact words, they are not trying to reach YOU. Find someone who understands how to teach YOU. That is the point of a personal tutor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why am I having trouble understanding this?
What is my motivation to learn this?
How can I apply this knowledge to my own life/what more can I do once I learn this?
