About

I am a passionate artist of over 10 years and an educator with a strong commitment of supporting students in their artistic growth! I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the American College of the Mediterranean, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University, majoring in Art Education.

As an educator, I have 6 years of experience developing and teaching art courses in various disciplines such as art history, drawing, painting, ceramics, digital arts and digital photography. Art education is crucial in creating well-rounded individuals. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of an inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves through art, think critically, and find their unique artistic voice.

I place students at the center of their own artistic journey, and am able to accommodate all diverse ranges of learning styles and abilities. In giving timely, positive and constructive feedback in class, during critiques, and in meetings, my students are able to not only grow their technical artistic skills, but also their confidence and resilience in the face of artistic adversities. By taking inspiration from artists in various disciplines cross-culturally and through applied technical practice, students leave my class with a more comprehensive understanding of art history and self-assurance in their art making abilities.

Laura was a perfect fit for our daughter, getting her ready for her college portfolio and application. We did not know the process, but Laura was patient and persistent with getting our daughter through all the hoops on time. She helped to broaden her portfolio beyond electronic mediums and quickly worked through pencil sketches, watercolor and fine tuning on perspective, realism, and shading, among other concepts. She helped think through the college selection process and discussed student preferences like college critique styles, BFA vs BA, etc. With Lauras help, our daughter was accepted to all schools she applied to including RISD, SCAD, MICA, Chicago, and VCU Arts. Laura was a dream to work with and was very encouraging and personable.

Frequently asked questions

When beginning a new semester, class, or private session, I like showing my students a snapshot of my current portfolio, so they know that in addition to being a teacher, I am a practicing artist who is still learning. It is my belief that we as artists can all learn from each other, as we all see the world in unique ways. From there, we can look at their portfolio together, and discuss their artistic goals.
I have been practicing art for over 10 years and I primarily work in oil paint, watercolor, acrylic paint, pen and ink, and pencil. I just received my Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the American College of the Mediterranean, in Aix-en-Provence, France. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University, and majored in Art Education. As an educator, I have 6 years of experience developing and teaching art courses in various disciplines such as art history, drawing, painting, ceramics, digital arts and digital photography.
I've worked with students of all ages, grades, and learning abilities, from Pre-K to University level. I've worked in inner city schools, county schools, private schools, public schools and institutions for those with special needs.
